Eight Outdoor Heated Areas to Enjoy in The St. Louis Metro Area

Here’s a rundown of eight places in the St. Louis Metro area that you can enjoy a drink outside as well as in.  COVID restrictions apply so always check their website or social for updated information.

Cave Vineyard in St. Genevieve

Wine tasting can be a deep and luxurious experience, and in most cases, people think they have seen it all. Cave Vineyard is where it gets brought up a notch. At this vineyard, you can not only experience a decadent tasting; there’s a biscotti bar to jump into as well.  In addition to that, there is a cave located right underneath the winery room! The Saltpeter Cave is the perfect place to picnic while listening to the brook and learning a little history.

For those wanting to view the beautiful vineyard, they offer outdoor seating and the option to have a picnic in the cave. Just be aware that if you're going to go inside the cave, a wine bottle purchase is necessary. They will also offer you the use of the outdoor pavilion and porches to enhance your experience to the fullest. Call or email ahead for seating information.  If you are still looking for something different, try your tasting in the Winery Loft overlooking the production area!

Square One Brewery and Distillery

Located on Park Ave in Lafayette Square, Square One brewery, distillery, restaurant is outstanding!  Square one started as a brewery and restaurant adding a distillery after.  The food is fabulous, while offering guests the beauty of the building itself as well as a lovely courtyard.  Guests have the perfect area to relax and enjoy themselves. The courtyard is always worth the wait and there’s just something about the Lafayette area that is special.  Plus choosing to be seated outdoors provides you a more secluded and private. The perfect setting for a romantic date.  The outdoor patio comes with a bar and the drink choices are incredible.  Including from their own brews and spirits made right there.

Balducci Vineyards, Augusta

The Balducci Vineyards have been voted the best winery for over fourteen years, and it's not hard to see why. They are family-friendly, offer live entertainment throughout the spring months, and their servers have the expertise that you need. They also offer a carefully chosen menu that will compliment any wine you choose to drink.

Balducci offers plenty of options for outdoor seating as well.  A winter picnic, tents, surrounded by a beautiful winter view.  If you are bringing family, they also have a lovely field that they can play in, weather permits, and a covered area for live music.

Schlafly Bottleworks Pub in Maplewood

If you haven’t heard of Schlafly then let us introduce you.  With three locations the Maplewood Bottleworks Pub has a heated tent area that’s perfect for winter.  Everything at their Bottleworks has been crafted with beer in mind, and they work to create sustainable products for their guests. The taproom and beer store offers a great mix of different lagers and options, including Proper Cider and Boomerang Mead Spritzer.

Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood is a result of a converted grocery store offering a patio for outdoor seating, that’s heated.  Great place to relax and sample the menu. What a great and friendly vibe.  Add that to your list of things to see as it offers an utterly unique experience. Schlafly is also dog friendly, and if you sit outside, they will provide you with a dog water bowl for you to use.

The Dark Room

The Dark Room is in the hustle and bustle and offers guests a chance to experience live jazz music, experience fine art, as well as premium drinks, and an artisan menu. They provide a nonprofit concept that is meant to enhance community togetherness and encourage and inspire its guests.

The Dark Room offers an expansive patio that lets you enjoy your experience under the stars. It overlooks the Powell Hall and the Arts Hotel Plaza. The patio provides a relaxing experience while you enjoy the ambiance. The tables are covered to protect against the elements while you sip and dine, and guests have said that the experience is unforgettable.

  Cinder House Restaurant, FourSeasons Hotel

Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a place to get a drink, outside, stay warm and have the St. Louis Arch as the background?  You’ll find just that at the Cinder House Restaurant at the Four Seasons in Downtown St. Louis.  If you’re going, bring a friend, a date, your partner, because a location like this must be shared.

The rooftop allows the best view of the city while letting you relax on plush seating. The Arch is there to greet you, downtown is in your sights.  Just go.  And thank us later.

The Royale Restaurant

The Royale Restaurant is one of those neighborhood restaurants that would fit in any anywhere in the city.  Soon as you enter, you know you’ve just found your home away from home.  Comfortable, relaxing.  Perfect for grabbing a drink afterwork, or Saturday afternoon late lunch after a day or shopping or errands.   Oh, and be sure to check out their brisket tacos!

In the wintertime, they turn their patio into a lovely winter wonderland that draws people in, heated and toasty.   With the garden as another option.  An attractive option for summer or winter.

Petrichor Brewing, O’Fallon

If you’re in St. Charles County, may we suggest Petrichor Brewing?  In O’Fallon, you’ve got to check out the spicy cauliflower or corkscrew shrimp.  And the beer?? Incredible craft selections made right there, for any craft lover. IPAs, Pils, or Darks.  We suggest the Blood Orange wheat.  But that’s just us.

If you'd like, try dining outside. They offer benches and seating that is reminiscent of outdoor picnics and a family-style of dining. It’s heated and a great place take the family or friends. Indoor out, this is a must visit place.

Please remember to check all websites for COVID restrictions.
